There
is nothing like an ice cold beer during a warm Spring/Summer night. The
way it quenches your thirst, the hops swirling in your mouth, the
crispness – yum.
Luckily
for me I don’t have to travel too far to experience the greatness of
microbreweries because I am surrounded. Here are a view you should check
out.
Free Will Brewery, http:// freewillbrewing.com/,
is located at 410 East Walnut Street in Perkasie. John Stemler,
Brewmaster, and Dominic Capece, Manager, founded Free Will Brewing
Company in 2010, and opened to the public in January of 2012. I actually
just had some Free Will beer when I was eating at McGillins in downtown
Philadelphia for my birthday. It was great to see some local guys
spreading all the way into the city. Congrats guys!
Round Guys Brewery, http:// roundguysbrewery.com,
324 W. Main Street Lansdale: I had the pleasure of interacting with
these gentlemen frequently when I was working at The Reporter. From
taking pictures of them when they hung their official sign up to sipping
on their beer in their shop, this cozy brewery is a great place to try
some intriguing flavors.
Prism Brewing Company, http://prismbeer.com/,
is located in an industrial park that you most likely will think you’re
lost or think you're going to get murdered but have no fear, you’re at
the right spot. Head to 810 Dickerson Road (North Wales mailing address)
for some amazing beers – shady blond is
my favorite! I even spent my New Year's at Prism two years ago -- it
was a blast and their special all you can drink was well worth it!!
While
this is only a list of a few breweries in the area, I would like to
share two other options to drink lots of other microbrews in one trip.
For
many of you who are local are aware the Lansdale Beer Festival which
has exploded into a craft beer drinkers paradise over the last 4 years.
With over 100 brewies, the event is sure to fancy your taste buds, but
be aware, get your tickets early bc this is sure to be a sold out event.
Head to www.lansdalebeerfest.com for more information
If
you cant make the festival, be sure to check out the Craft Beer Bus of
Pottstown. This amazing bus which provides booze on the ride, games,
prizes and much more giving you transportation to usually 5 breweries
within a certain area for an afternoon of drinking. Dont worry about
drinking and driving, the bus has you safe!!! To see their tours and
where the bus is headed next visit www.craftbeerbus.com. To read more about the bus, read my article I wrote when they stopped through our area.
Been to Round Guys for jazz on Wednesday nights. Love it.
